How does tattoo removal work?

In layman’s terms, tattoo removal uses special laser technology to break down tattoo ink beneath your skin. The laser delivers pulses of light energy that shatter the ink into tiny fragments, which your body’s immune system will naturally detox over time.

Is tattoo removal worth it? (What are the benefits?)

If you want to fade or completely remove unwanted tattoos — whether for aesthetic or personal reasons — tattoo laser removal is the gold standard, and it is absolutely worth it.

Benefits of professional laser tattoo removal services include:

  • Gradual ink fading (see progress with each session!)
  • Professional standards (much safer than DIY methods)
  • Multiple ink color removal (works on most tattoo types)
  • Minimal scarring risk (when performed properly)

Does tattoo removal hurt?

Unfortunately, many people do find tattoo laser removal somewhat painful on its own. But at Lifted Aesthetics, we do a lot to make the experience more comfortable, including using topical numbing creams and offering ProNox (laughing gas).

How much does tattoo removal cost in Charlotte, NC?

Here at Lifted Aesthetics in Charlotte, NC, laser tattoo removal costs range from $100 – $900+ per session, depending on the size, color, and complexity of your tattoo.

During your consultation, we’ll examine your tattoo and provide a custom quote based on the estimated number of sessions needed. We offer package pricing to make completing your full series more affordable.

How long does tattoo removal take?

Most clients need 6-12 sessions for complete removal, though some tattoos may require more or fewer treatments. You’ll see fading after each session, so you can start reaping the benefits as soon as possible.

What to expect during and after laser tattoo removal services

Before treatment, we’ll apply topical numbing cream to help with any discomfort (and you can also opt for ProNox laughing gas if you prefer).

During treatment, you’ll feel quick pulses of heat as the laser breaks down the ink particles. Treatment time varies based on tattoo size but typically ranges from 10-30 minutes. Post-session, the area will look and feel similar to a mild sunburn. You might notice whitening or “frosting” over the tattoo —  this is normal and fades within 20-30 minutes. We’ll apply a protective ointment and cover the area with a sterile dressing.

You’ll notice fading over the next 6-8 weeks as your body naturally removes the ink particles.
