What is laser skin resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing removes damaged outer layers of skin and stimulates collagen production deep within to reveal fresher, younger-looking skin. Commonly used on the face, neck, and back of the hands, laser resurfacing treatment is excellent for targeting sun damage, scars, fine lines, and wrinkles.

What are the benefits of a laser resurfacing treatment?

Laser resurfacing results in dramatic improvements in skin texture and tone, thanks to the skin-tightening effects, skin-quality enhancements, and boosted collagen production.

Laser skin resurfacing results include:

  • Reversal of appearance of sun damage (no more sun spots)
  • Reduced fine lines and wrinkles (smoother, younger-looking skin!)
  • Improved acne scarring (levels out textured areas)
  • Even skin tone (fades dark spots)
  • Tighter, firmer skin (stimulates natural collagen production)
  • Overall skin rejuvenation (look refreshed!)

Does laser resurfacing hurt?

Most clients don’t find laser resurfacing treatments painful, but you may experience some discomfort. Downtime can range from 1 to 14 days, depending on the depth of treatment. We’ll talk with you during your consultation about what to expect!

How long does laser resurfacing last?

Laser skin resurfacing results can last for several years! You should see improvements right away, and results will continue to build over the next 3-6 months as your collagen production ramps up. Make sure to use sun protection and stay hydrated to maintain results as long as possible.

What to expect during and after treatment

During your treatment, you’ll feel warmth and mild prickling as the laser removes damaged skin layers and stimulates collagen production. Some clients describe the sensation as a series of warm pulses or rubber band snaps.

Immediately after your treatment, your skin will probably feel warm and appear red, kind of like a sunburn. You might experience a tight, pulling sensation, and mild swelling is normal.

The first few days post-treatment are the most intensive healing period. Your skin will feel tight and may appear darker or bronzed. Gentle peeling typically begins around day 3-4, and you’ll notice improvements in skin texture and tone once healing is complete, around 7-10 days post-treatment.
